McKenzie is a legal intern at Smith + Malek during her last year of law school at Gonzaga University School of Law. During law school, McKenzie volunteered with the Street Law program, teaching basic constitutional law in Spokane high schools. McKenzie is also the Executive Editor of the Gonzaga Law Review.
Prior to joining Smith + Malek, McKenzie worked at a private Spokane law firm, focusing on litigation and employment law. She also gained experience as a judicial extern to Judge Fennessy of the Spokane Superior Court, and as a law clerk with the Washington State Office of the Attorney General. McKenzie hopes that her practice will involve litigation, and enjoyed competing in Gonzaga’s annual Linden Cup Oral Advocacy Competition in March 2019.
McKenzie grew up in Puyallup, Washington, home of the Washington State Fair. She attended Western Washington University where she received her Bachelor of Arts in Politics, Philosophy, and Economics and graduated in March 2017. During college, McKenzie served as the student representative to Bellingham City Council and the Mayor’s Neighborhood Advisory Council.
In her free time, McKenzie enjoys crafting, watching musicals, and spending time with her husband, Isaac. She also volunteers with her local church, teaching the children’s Sunday School program and singing on the worship team.
