Baeley Hathaway is a litigation and transactional attorney at Smith + Malek. Baeley’s experiences before deciding to become an attorney showed her the importance of advocates that are zealous and unafraid. She felt a career in law would enable that mission and would allow her to advocate for others in a tangible way.
Before law school, she interned for the Attorney General’s office in the Department of Social and Health Services working with foster children and vulnerable adults. As a teenager, Baeley spent summers with teen mothers and their babies in Guatemala.
Inspired by those experiences, Baeley hopes to one day become a foster mom. She’s grateful to be part of a firm where being an attorney and having aspirations outside of work is entirely possible.
Baeley tries to emanate the values she has gained by recognizing the good traits in those surrounding her and asking how she can adopt those traits to become a better version of herself. She brings that mindset to her work for Smith + Malek.
Outside of work, Baeley loves to write, hunt for the best brunch restaurants, hike the beautiful trails in the Pacific Northwest, and spend time with her family on the lake and the ski hill. If she weren’t an attorney, she’d be a writer living in a cabin by the sea.
